MTND1P6 is a mitochondrial pseudogene modeled after the gene encoding a subunit of respiratory chain complex I (NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase core subunit 1). As a pseudogene, MTND1P6 does not produce a functional protein and is not known to have any direct biological or therapeutic role. Pseudogenes are genetic sequences that resemble known genes but typically contain defects (such as frameshifts or stop codons) that prevent expression of a functional product.
