MTND2P30 is a pseudogene located on chromosome 1p31.1. It shares sequence similarity with the mitochondrial MT-ND2 gene, which encodes a critical subunit of NADH dehydrogenase (Complex I) of the electron transport chain, but MTND2P30 itself does not encode a functional protein and is categorized as a pseudogene. No evidence suggests that MTND2P30 is involved in receptor, transporter, or enzymatic activity, nor is it a therapeutic target or disease biomarker. This distinguishes it from the functional MT-ND2 protein, whose defects are implicated in numerous mitochondrial diseases and metabolic disorders. There are no reported interactions of MTND2P30 with drugs, nor any known roles in human disease.
