Overview

MT-ND2 pseudogene 9 (MTND2P9) is a nuclear pseudogene and does not encode a functional protein product. It is homologous to the mitochondrial MT-ND2 gene (mitochondrially encoded NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase core subunit 2), which encodes an essential subunit of Complex I in the mitochondrial electron transport chain responsible for electron transfer from NADH to ubiquinone[8][12]. Pseudogenes like MTND2P9 do not perform these functions and are generally not considered therapeutic targets. There is no evidence for a direct biological function, role in disease, or interactions with drugs for this pseudogene, making it irrelevant as a therapeutic target. Its presence in the genome may be of research interest for evolutionary studies or transcriptomic analyses but does not hold direct clinical significance as a target[13][8][12][6].
