MT-ND3 pseudogene 18 (MTND3P18) is a human pseudogene annotated by both the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee and GeneCards as a non-coding, nonfunctional genomic sequence. It is homologous to the MT-ND3 gene, which encodes a core subunit of mitochondrial complex I, but MTND3P18 itself does not produce a protein and is not known to affect mitochondrial function, disease, or serve as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any other therapeutic target[2][4][6][8]. There is no evidence of its involvement in biological pathways, disease mechanisms, or interaction with drugs, and it is not used as a biomarker in medical practice. Note: MTND3P18 should not be confused with the functional MT-ND3 gene, which encodes a mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I subunit and is relevant in mitochondrial diseases. MTND3P18 is a pseudogene with no documented expression or biological function.[2][4][6][8]
