MT-ND3 pseudogene 21 (MTND3P21) is a human genomic DNA sequence that shares homology with the functional, protein-coding mitochondrial MT-ND3 gene. However, it is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it does not encode a functional protein and is generally considered non-functional. MTND3P21 is located on chromosome 1p22.1, distinct from the mitochondrial genome that encodes the canonical MT-ND3. There are no known biological functions, disease associations, drug interactions, or clinical relevance for this pseudogene. MTND3P21 is a nuclear pseudogene and should not be confused with the mitochondrial gene MT-ND3, which encodes a core subunit of complex I in the electron transport chain and is associated with multiple mitochondrial diseases. MTND3P21 has no known function, disease roles, or drug interactions.
