The actual MT-ND4L gene is well characterized and encodes a critical subunit of complex I, facilitating electron transfer from NADH to ubiquinone and contributing to ATP synthesis[1][5][6]. Variants of the true MT-ND4L are implicated in diseases such as Leber hereditary optic neuropathy and metabolic syndrome[1][3][5][6]. However, pseudogenes like MTND4LP24 do not encode functional protein and are not considered targets for therapeutic intervention. No reputable database or research publication describes MT-ND4L pseudogene 24 as a valid molecular target or assigns it biological or clinical relevance.
