NIFK pseudogene 8 (NIFKP8), also referenced as MKI67IPP8, is a pseudogene in humans that shares homology with the MKI67IP (MKI67 FHA domain-interacting nucleolar phosphoprotein) gene, but does not encode a functional protein itself[2][3][4][7]. NIFKP8 lacks evidence of expression or protein function, and its biological significance remains undefined in the current literature. Unlike some pseudogenes that may have noncoding RNA functions, there is no published evidence that NIFKP8 is a functional lncRNA or is implicated in disease. The gene is cataloged primarily in gene databases and is not recognized as a therapeutic or diagnostic target[3][7][4]. Summary: NIFKP8 is a pseudogene, not a functional gene or known drug target. It should not be confused with similar functional genes (such as MKI67IP) or other pseudogenes/lncRNAs reported as oncogenic (such as DUXAP8)[1].
