KarXT + lecanemab refers to a therapeutic combination of two distinct agents: a muscarinic receptor agonist and an anti-amyloid monoclonal antibody. KarXT (xanomeline and trospium chloride) targets the muscarinic acetylcholine receptors M1 and M4, which are G protein-coupled receptors involved in cognitive processing and the regulation of dopamine release [FDA, 2024; Paul et al., 2022]. This dual approach is of significant interest to the biotechnology industry as it seeks to integrate disease-modifying therapies with advanced symptomatic treatments.
