Target intelligence / Profile preview
Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigens, including ESAT-6 and CFP10, are proteins produced by the bacterium that can be recognized by the host immune system. ESAT-6 and CFP10 are secreted proteins that play a role in virulence, immune modulation, and pathogenesis. They are strong T-cell stimulators and are highly specific for M. tuberculosis infection. Their presence forms the basis for several modern diagnostic tests for active or latent TB infection.
