N-alpha-acetyltransferase 25, NatB auxiliary subunit (NAA25)

Target
NAA25
Molecular classification
Enzyme auxiliary subunit, Protein complex subunit (NatB complex), Other (non-catalytic component)
01

Overview

N-alpha-acetyltransferase 25, NatB auxiliary subunit (NAA25) is the non-catalytic, auxiliary component of the N-terminal acetyltransferase B (NatB) protein complex. The NatB complex acetylates the N-terminal methionine of proteins that are immediately followed by acidic or asparagine/glutamine residues (Met-Asp, Met-Glu, Met-Asn, Met-Gln). NAA25 does not possess catalytic activity but is essential for complex stability and function, and it may play a role in normal cell cycle progression. Mutations in NAA25 are associated with disorders such as high pressure neurological syndrome and microphthalmia, syndromic 1. No direct drugs or inhibitors are currently known to target this protein[1][3][4][5][6].
