NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase subunit A11 (NDUFA11) is an accessory subunit of mitochondrial complex I (NADH dehydrogenase), a large multi-subunit enzyme complex responsible for the transfer of electrons from NADH to ubiquinone in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. NDUFA11 is encoded in the nuclear genome and is believed to play a role in the assembly, stability, and regulation of complex I rather than catalyzing electron transfer directly. Mutations in NDUFA11 are associated with mitochondrial complex I deficiency, manifesting as a spectrum of often severe neurological and metabolic disorders. While NDUFA11 itself is not a commonly exploited drug target, proper function is essential for cellular ATP production and oxidative phosphorylation.
