Overview

NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase subunit A5 pseudogene 10 (NDUFA5P10) is a human pseudogene corresponding to a non-coding, non-functional copy of the gene for the A5 subunit of NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex I of the mitochondrial respiratory chain)[[1]][[3]]. Pseudogenes like NDUFA5P10 do not encode functional proteins but may have regulatory roles through transcription into non-coding RNAs that can modulate the activity of protein-coding genes via mechanisms such as RNA interference or microRNA decoy function[[5]]. There is no evidence that this pseudogene is a therapeutic target, nor does it produce an active receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar molecule. It is not known to be used as a biomarker, have interacting drugs, or present direct safety or therapeutic concerns. NDUFA5P10 is not a canonical drug target; it represents a noncoding genomic element with potential indirect biological effects but no protein product or targetable molecular function[[3]][[5]]. The presence and naming are correct, but as a pseudogene, it does not fit conventional definitions of a therapeutic target.
