NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase subunit B8 pseudogene 1 (NDUFB8P1) is a human pseudogene that is closely related in sequence to the NDUFB8 gene, which encodes an accessory subunit of mitochondrial complex I, an essential component of the electron transport chain[3][7]. Unlike NDUFB8, which is a protein-coding gene and plays a role in mitochondrial electron transport, NDUFB8P1 retains sequence homology but does not encode a functional protein and has no known biological activity or disease associations. Pseudogenes such as NDUFB8P1 generally arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and do not serve as drug targets.
