NAV2 antisense RNA 5 (NAV2-AS5) is a human long non-coding RNA gene situated on chromosome 11 that is transcribed opposite to the NAV2 gene. It functions primarily as an antisense RNA, possibly regulating NAV2 expression through RNA-RNA interactions. NAV2-AS5 has been suggested to play a role in tumorigenic processes such as those seen in certain cancers, and in inflammation, like chondrocyte inflammation in osteoarthritis. It does not encode a protein, is not classified as a receptor or classical drug target, and currently has no known direct drug interactions[3][4][6][7][8].
No established mechanism of action for drugs—its biological activity appears to be through RNA-RNA interactions and modulation of gene expression, not through classical drug binding[4][7].
