A neoantigen peptide is a short protein fragment derived from tumor-specific mutations unique to an individual patient's cancer. These peptides are not present in normal tissues and arise due to somatic alterations in the tumor genome, making them highly specific to each patient. Neoantigen peptides are used as targets for personalized immunotherapies, most notably in the form of vaccines designed to stimulate the immune system—particularly T cells—to recognize and attack cancer cells expressing these unique antigens.
