Target intelligence / Profile preview

Nitric oxide synthase 3, endothelial cell type (NOS3)

Target
NOS3
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Oxidoreductase
01

Overview

Nitric oxide synthase 3 (NOS3), also known as endothelial NOS (eNOS), is an enzyme primarily expressed in vascular endothelial cells. It produces nitric oxide (NO) from L-arginine, a key signaling molecule that regulates vascular tone, blood pressure, platelet aggregation, and leukocyte adhesion. eNOS dysfunction is implicated in various cardiovascular diseases.
