Target intelligence / Profile preview
NOD-, LRR- and pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) is a key intracellular sensor protein involved in the innate immune response. Upon activation by PAMPs or DAMPs, it assembles into the NLRP3 inflammasome, leading to caspase-1 activation and the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-18, ultimately resulting in inflammation and pyroptosis. Dysregulation of NLRP3 can lead to autoinflammatory diseases.
