Overview
NLRP3 is a key component of the innate immune system that forms an inflammasome complex upon activation, leading to the activation of caspase-1 and the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-18. Overactivation of NLRP3 is implicated in various neurodegenerative and cardiometabolic diseases.
