Non-SMC element 4 homolog A, SMC5-SMC6 complex component (NSMCE4A) is an essential scaffold protein that forms part of the SMC5-SMC6 complex, a highly conserved multiprotein assembly critical for DNA repair and genome integrity[1][5]. NSMCE4A participates in the DNA damage response, promoting homologous recombination, sister chromatid cohesion, and telomere maintenance via recombination, especially in alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT) cell lines[1].
