This molecule is a novel, annotated noncoding RNA transcript located antisense to the ACAD8 gene, meaning it is transcribed from the DNA strand opposite the ACAD8 protein-coding sequence. Antisense transcripts are widely observed in mammalian genomes and may participate in regulation of gene expression through chromatin modification, transcriptional interference, or RNA–RNA interaction, potentially modulating the expression and stability of the sense (protein-coding) transcript. However, as of now, there is no evidence that “novel transcript, antisense to ACAD8” functions as a receptor, enzyme, or other conventional drug target, nor is there experimental data supporting a clear biological or disease-related role for this transcript. Its annotation is based on sequence, not on functional evidence, and it should not be considered a standard therapeutic target.
