Novel transcript, antisense to AGFG2 (ENSG00000295200), is a non-coding RNA gene located antisense to the protein-coding AGFG2 gene. As a Natural antisense transcript (NAT), it does not encode a protein, but may participate in complex post-transcriptional regulation of AGFG2 or other genes through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, RNA masking, RNA editing, or recruitment of chromatin modification complexes. While NATs have been implicated in fundamental biological processes such as genomic imprinting and X-chromosome inactivation, as well as disease contexts via regulation of their sense partners, there is currently no direct functional or disease relevance established for this particular transcript.
