Novel transcript, antisense to GRAPL" (GRAPL-AS1) is a natural antisense non-coding RNA gene located antisense to the GRAPL gene. Natural antisense transcripts are involved in regulating the expression of their paired sense genes through mechanisms such as chromatin modification, transcriptional interference, RNA masking, or dsRNA-mediated processes. The specific function of this transcript is not fully described, but by analogy to other antisense RNAs, it may modulate the sense GRAPL mRNA's expression, stability, or splicing, and thereby contribute to gene regulatory networks. Currently, there is no evidence that it encodes a protein or acts as a direct pharmacological target.
