Overview

Novel transcript, antisense to TNS1 (ENSG00000295147) is a predicted long non-coding RNA that is transcribed from the opposite strand of the TNS1 gene locus. Like other natural antisense transcripts, it may theoretically regulate the expression of the sense TNS1 gene by mechanisms such as modifying chromatin states, influencing RNA processing, or competing for regulatory factors, although there is currently no direct evidence for any functional role. Antisense transcription in general is known to be widespread in the genome and can modulate the dynamics of sense transcript production and stability, potentially by affecting chromatin architecture and nucleosome positioning; however, these features have not been specifically demonstrated for ENSG00000295147[1][3]. There are no known clinical, pharmacological, or disease implications for this transcript at present.

Mechanism of action

Not applicable; no drugs or interventions are known to act on this transcript

03

Biological functions

Putative regulation of TNS1 expression (inferred from the general features of antisense transcripts[1][3])Possible chromatin modification and alteration of transcript stability (based on general properties of antisense RNAs[1][3])
04

Disease associations

None specific for this transcript. Generally, natural antisense transcripts can play roles in disease by regulating their sense counterparts, but there is no evidence for ENSG00000295147 involvement in any pathology as of now[2][3].
05

Safety considerations

None known; not currently a therapeutic target
