Nuclear GTPase, germinal center associated (NUGGC) is a protein predominantly expressed in germinal center B-cells, where it functions as a nuclear GTPase with regulatory roles in cell cycle progression and DNA replication[1][2][3]. NUGGC negatively regulates apoptosis and modulates the cellular response to lipopolysaccharide[1][7]. A notable function is the inhibition of activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AICDA), thereby reducing somatic hypermutation in B-cells, which may enhance genomic stability[1]. It is localized primarily in the nucleus and nuclear speckles, and, by similarity, may prevent excessive mutagenesis during immune responses in germinal center B-cells[1][9][10]. Diseases currently linked to NUGGC include microcystic adenoma, but there are no documented therapeutic drugs targeting NUGGC, nor is it established as a clinical biomarker[1].
