Overview

Nuclear receptor subfamily 1 group H member 5, pseudogene (NR1H5P), is annotated as a pseudogene and does not encode a functional nuclear receptor protein[4][5]. The broader nuclear receptor family includes important transcription factors involved in hormone sensing, metabolism, and disease[1][3][7], but NR1H5P itself is a non-functional copy and is not considered a therapeutic target. Like other pseudogenes, NR1H5P may theoretically participate in regulatory functions at the RNA level, such as acting as a competitive endogenous RNA, generating regulatory noncoding RNAs, or influencing parental gene expression, although such roles for NR1H5P have not been experimentally validated[2][6]. There is no current evidence that NR1H5P is implicated in disease, interacts with drugs, or serves as a biomarker. Classification as a pseudogene means it is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or canonical target, and should not be selected for therapeutic drug development.
