OFD1 pseudogene 4, Y-linked (OFD1P4Y)

OFD1 pseudogene 4, Y-linked (OFD1P4Y) is one of multiple OFD1-related sequences found on the human Y chromosome. These Y-linked paralogs, including OFD1P4Y, are classified as pseudogenes, which means they are nonfunctional DNA segments derived from once-active genes. Although there is an active Y-linked OFD1 gene in some other species (e.g., bovine), no functional OFD1 gene exists on the human Y chromosome[1]. All human Y-linked OFD1 paralogs, including OFD1P4Y, lack protein-coding potential and known biological activity. The only functional OFD1 gene in humans is X-linked and is associated with several developmental disorders when mutated[1][2]. OFD1P4Y itself has no known physiological, pathological, or therapeutic significance.
