Target intelligence / Profile preview
Outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) are nano-sized vesicles naturally shed from the outer membrane of *Neisseria meningitidis*. They are composed of lipids, proteins (e.g., PorA, OpcA, RmpM), and lipopolysaccharide (LPS). OMVs function in bacterial communication, virulence factor delivery, immune modulation, and biofilm formation. OMV-based vaccines are used against *N. meningitidis*, particularly serogroup B. Safety concerns include endotoxicity due to LPS.
