Parkinson disease protein 7 mRNA (DJ-1 mRNA) is the transcript of the PARK7 gene, which encodes the multifunctional DJ-1 protein. This protein acts as a redox-sensitive chaperone, a protein deglycase, and a regulator of transcription, playing a vital role in cellular protection against oxidative stress [1, 2]. In neurodegenerative conditions like Parkinson's disease, mutations or reduced expression of DJ-1 lead to mitochondrial dysfunction and neuronal death [4].
