A pathogen-specific antigen encoded by a plasmid is a protein or molecular structure produced by a pathogenic microorganism, where the genetic instructions for this antigen are carried on a plasmid. These antigens can be unique to the pathogen and are often involved in virulence, immune evasion, or antimicrobial resistance. They represent promising targets for novel therapeutics and vaccines, particularly for combating multidrug-resistant bacteria.
