Peptide deformylase, mitochondrial (HsPDF), is a metalloprotease enzyme located in human mitochondria. It removes the formyl group from the N-terminal methionine of newly synthesized mitochondrial proteins, which is crucial for their maturation and function. HsPDF is considered a potential anticancer target, as its inhibition can disrupt mitochondrial function and selectively inhibit tumor cell proliferation.
