Overview

PGAM3P (phosphoglycerate mutase 3, pseudogene) is a processed pseudogene that resembles the functional phosphoglycerate mutase genes but is generally incapable of encoding an active protein due to disabling mutations[1][4][5]. Unlike true therapeutic targets, it does not participate directly in biochemical pathways and has no validated role in disease or pharmacology. While some pseudogenes can influence cellular function by regulatory RNA mechanisms (such as acting as microRNA sponges or undergoing DNA sequence exchange with a parent gene), PGAM3P itself is not documented to have any such recognized activity. The presence of PGAM3P—like many pseudogenes—mainly reflects genomic organization and evolution rather than functional significance for disease or drug targeting[4][5].
