Target intelligence / Profile preview

Phospholipase A2 group XH, pseudogene (PLA2G10HP)

Target
PLA2G10HP
Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene, not an active enzyme, receptor, transporter, etc.)
01

Overview

PLA2G10HP is a pseudogene derived from or homologous to phospholipase A2 group X (PLA2G10). Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to functional genes but are generally non-expressive and do not produce a functional protein. PLA2G10HP is not catalytically active and does not participate in known cellular, pharmacological, or disease processes. By contrast, the active enzyme PLA2G10 is a secreted phospholipase A2 involved in hydrolyzing membrane phospholipids and is implicated in inflammation and lipid mediator production[1][2]. PLA2G10HP should not be confused with PLA2G10, which is the functional gene and enzyme.
