Target intelligence / Profile preview
The phosphorylase kinase, gamma 1 pseudogene is a non-protein-coding sequence located in the human genome. It is homologous to the functional PHKG1 gene, which encodes the gamma-1 catalytic subunit of phosphorylase kinase, an enzyme involved in the regulation of glycogen breakdown. Unlike the protein-coding PHKG1 gene, this pseudogene does not produce a functional enzyme and is not involved in established biological or disease processes. Pseudogenes are generally evolutionary remnants and are not considered direct therapeutic targets[4][6].
