Target intelligence / Profile preview

Plasma Cell (Epstein-Barr Virus-Infected) (EBV-infected Plasma Cell)

Target
EBV-infected Plasma Cell
Molecular classification
B lymphocyte, Plasma cell, Virus-infected cell
01

Overview

Plasma cells are terminally differentiated B lymphocytes responsible for antibody production. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-infected plasma cells are a rare but clinically significant entity, particularly in immunocompromised patients. EBV infection in plasma cells can be associated with plasmablastic lymphoma and, less commonly, other plasma cell neoplasms. Detection is typically performed via EBER in situ hybridization (ISH).
