Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 pseudogene 1 (PARP1P1)

Target
PARP1P1
Molecular classification
Pseudogene
01

Overview

Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 pseudogene 1 (PARP1P1) is a nonfunctional copy of the poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP1) gene, classified as a pseudogene. Unlike the functional PARP1 enzyme, which has significant roles in DNA repair and cancer biology, PARP1P1 does not encode a protein product and does not have known biological or clinical relevance. Its presence may have regulatory or evolutionary significance but is not considered a therapeutic target. Care should be taken not to confuse PARP1P1 with the functional and druggable PARP1 gene, which is a validated target in cancer therapy[4].
