Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase family member 15 (PARP15) is an enzyme belonging to the PARP family, which are characterized by their ability to catalyze the transfer of ADP-ribose units from NAD+ onto target proteins. PARP15 specifically catalyzes mono(ADP-ribosyl)ation rather than the formation of poly(ADP-ribose) chains, and shows weak automodification ability, instead favoring modification of other proteins. PARP family members play important roles in DNA repair, genomic stability, stress responses, and cell signaling, but the unique biological and disease functions of PARP15 are less thoroughly characterized than major PARPs like PARP1/2.
