POU domain, class 3, transcription factor 1 (POU3F1, also known as Oct-6 or OTF6) is a DNA-binding transcription factor involved in the regulation of gene expression during nervous system development and keratinocyte differentiation. It functions as both a transcriptional activator and repressor by binding to the octamer motif (5'-ATTTGCAT-3') in gene promoters, and can act cooperatively with other transcription factors such as SOX4, SOX11, or SOX12. POU3F1 is primarily localized to the nucleus. It has disease associations with certain cancers such as pyriform sinus cancer and scrotum squamous cell carcinoma. However, there are currently no known drugs that target POU3F1 directly, and it is not widely utilized as a clinical biomarker
