Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein. Dysregulation or genetic variation in EGLN2 has been implicated in several diseases including various cancers (notably colorectal cancer), polycythemia, pheochromocytoma, and possibly neurodegenerative processes.
