Overview

Prostate cancer associated transcript 18 (PCAT18) is a long intergenic non-protein coding RNA (lincRNA), also known as LINC01092, that is highly specific to prostate cancer and regulated by the androgen receptor. As a lincRNA, PCAT18 does not encode a protein but is implicated in the regulation of gene expression, often acting as a molecular sponge for specific microRNAs (such as miR-103a-3p), thereby modulating downstream transcriptional activity. PCAT18 and other lincRNAs participate in diverse cellular processes, including cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and cell proliferation, and may serve as diagnostic or prognostic biomarkers for cancer. There is evidence for disease association (primarily cancer), but no evidence that PCAT18 is currently a direct therapeutic target or that there are drugs targeting it.
