Overview

Protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 11B, pseudogene (PTPN11BP), is a non-coding genomic locus classified as a transcribed unprocessed pseudogene located on human chromosome 1[3][7][5][2][4]. It does not encode a protein product and has no described biological function or clinical relevance as a therapeutic target. Its functional, protein-coding homolog, PTPN11, encodes the phosphatase SHP2, which has established roles in cell signaling and oncogenesis, but PTPN11BP itself does not have any such activity and is not considered a drug target. Important note: Please do not confuse "PTPN11BP" (pseudogene, no function) with "PTPN11" (protein-coding, important proto-oncogene and cancer target)[1][2].
