Protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type V, pseudogene (PTPRVP), is a non-coding unitary pseudogene in humans that does not encode a functional protein[2][3][4][5][6][7]. It is homologous to the functional mouse gene Ptprv (also known as ESP or OST-PTP), which has important roles in osteoblast-mediated endocrine regulation of energy metabolism and as a downstream effector of the p53 pathway responsible for cell cycle arrest and tumor suppression in mice[6][9]. In humans, PTPRVP lacks protein-coding potential and thus does not have direct biological function or relevance as a therapeutic target or biomarker; any regulatory or disease associations inferred for the human gene are likely based on orthologous mouse gene data, not on direct human biological activity[2][3][4][5][6][9].
