Overview

Protocadherin gamma subfamily A, 7 (PCDHGA7) is a membrane-bound, calcium-dependent cell-adhesion protein encoded by the PCDHGA7 gene. It belongs to the gamma cluster of the protocadherin family, characterized by an immunoglobulin-like organization and clustered gene locus on chromosome 5. The protein is predicted to play a pivotal role in mediating and maintaining specific cell-cell connections in the brain, particularly in neural circuitry development. In the epidermis, PCDHGA7 helps maintain structural integrity among basal keratinocytes. Diseases associated with mutations in PCDHGA7 include certain neurodevelopmental disorders and Cenani-Lenz syndactyly syndrome. The exact physiological functions in humans, especially in pathological contexts, remain under investigation. There are currently no therapeutically approved drugs targeting PCDHGA7, and it is not considered a conventional drug target
