RAB9AP3 is a pseudogene corresponding to the RAB9A gene, a member of the Ras oncogene family encoding a small GTPase involved in membrane trafficking; however, as a pseudogene, RAB9AP3 does not produce a protein and does not have known biological function or disease association as a drug target. Pseudogenes typically arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and may share sequence similarity with protein-coding genes but are transcriptionally inactive or do not result in a functional product[1]. While RAB9A itself is a well-characterized small GTPase involved in late endosome to trans-Golgi network protein transport, RAB9AP3 is a non-functional pseudogene and is not a therapeutic target nor a molecular receptor, enzyme, or otherwise druggable entity[1][9].
