RAS p21 protein activator 4E, pseudogene (RASA4EP), is classified as a pseudogene, which is a nonfunctional DNA segment similar to a protein-coding gene but incapable of producing a functional protein product. Pseudogenes can arise by gene duplication or retrotransposition and typically do not have regulatory sequences or functional open reading frames. The RASA4EP locus does not produce a functional protein, and there is no evidence of its involvement in human disease or therapeutic processes. Unlike functional protein-coding RAS activators or signaling molecules, RASA4EP does not serve as a receptor, enzyme, or regulatory protein and is not considered a druggable target.
