Respiratory Syncytial Virus surface proteins include the fusion glycoprotein (F), which drives fusion of the viral and host cell membranes, the attachment glycoprotein (G), which binds to host cell receptors such as CX3CR1 to initiate infection and modulate immunity, and the small hydrophobic protein (SH), which may function as a viroporin (ion channel) affecting membrane permeability.
