Overview

The fusion (F) glycoprotein of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a type I viral fusion protein that mediates the entry of RSV into host cells. It exists as a trimer in a metastable prefusion conformation and facilitates viral and cellular membrane fusion. It is a major target for neutralizing antibodies and a key antigen for vaccine development.
