Overview

REXO1, RNA exonuclease 1 homolog-like 12, pseudogene (REXO1L12P), is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 8q21.2[15]. As a pseudogene, it does not encode an active protein product and does not have known biological functions or involvement in clinical disease roles[1][3][5][9][15]. It is related by sequence homology to REXO1, an exonuclease gene, but has no established functional role, interacting drugs, or therapeutic relevance in current biomedical literature[3][5][9][15]. Key context - REXO1L12P is explicitly annotated as a pseudogene in major databases (HGNC, Alliance of Genome Resources, GeneCards)[3][5][15]. - There is no evidence it is a therapeutic target, drug-interacting gene, or clinically significant biomarker[3][5][9][15]. - It may be expressed at low levels in some cell types but is not known to produce a functional protein[9]. Note: Do not confuse this entry with the related but functional REXO1 gene, which does encode an active RNA exonuclease[13][16][17]. REXO1L12P does not share this function. For structured queries or target selection, this entry should generally be excluded as it refers to a non-coding pseudogene.
