RNase H recruitment refers to the process by which RNase H enzymes are directed to cleave target mRNA molecules. This is typically achieved through the formation of RNA-DNA hybrids, most commonly via antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) that are complementary to a specific sequence in the target mRNA. When an ASO binds its target, it forms a DNA:RNA duplex that is recognized and cleaved by RNase H, resulting in degradation of the RNA strand and subsequent reduction or elimination of gene expression.
