Ribosomal protein S4, Y-linked 2 pseudogene (RPS4Y2P)

Ribosomal protein S4, Y-linked 2 pseudogene is a non-functional genomic sequence derived from the RPS4Y1 or RPS4Y2 gene, located on the Y chromosome. While the functional genes encode a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit involved in protein synthesis, the pseudogenes are typically transcriptionally inactive and have no known protein products or biological functions. Functional ribosomal proteins S4Y may act as minor histocompatibility antigens and contribute to sex-specific diagnostics, but pseudogenes themselves are not considered direct therapeutic or research targets.
