Ribosomal RNA processing 7 homolog B, pseudogene (RRP7BP)

Overview

Ribosomal RNA processing 7 homolog B, pseudogene (RRP7BP), is a processed pseudogene in humans mapped to chromosome 22. It is homologous to the yeast RRP7 gene, which is essential in rRNA processing and ribosomal small subunit assembly in yeast, but the human gene is classified as a pseudogene and is not known to have a functional protein product. The gene has been listed as a putative gastric cancer antigen in some databases, but there is no evidence for its protein expression or function in human biology[1][3][5][7].

Biological functions

Other (predicted involvement in rRNA processing and ribosomal small subunit assembly, but not functional in human as it is a pseudogene)[3][4]

Disease associations

Other (no clear role established; sometimes annotated as a putative cancer antigen, but no functional evidence)[3]
